Ci'en Pagoda Guide
Reach for the Heavens: Ascend Ci'en Pagoda for Breathtaking Views Guide
Perched atop Shabalan Mountain, the Ci'en Pagoda offers unparalleled panoramic views of Sun Moon Lake and the surrounding landscape. This majestic pagoda, built by Chiang Kai-shek in memory of his mother, is a must-visit for anyone seeking a spiritual and visual feast. Ascend the pagoda's nine stories and be rewarded with breathtaking vistas that will leave you in awe. The Ci'en Pagoda was commissioned by Chiang Kai-shek in 1971 and completed in 1973. It was built to honor his mother, Wang Caiyu. The pagoda's location was carefully chosen based on feng shui principles, believed to bring good fortune and prosperity. The name "Ci'en" translates to "filial piety and gratitude," reflecting the purpose of its construction. Visitors can climb the pagoda's nine stories, each offering progressively more stunning views of Sun Moon Lake. Ring the bell at the top for good luck and enjoy the serene atmosphere. The surrounding park offers peaceful walking trails and picnic areas. The pagoda is a popular spot for photography, especially during sunrise and sunset.
